Height variation of the solar granulation
We analyze spectral scans of narrow-band images across the Na D2 line. They were obtained from disc centre of the Sun with our Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) in the Vacuum Tower Telescope at the Observatorio del Teide. The FPI was set to a bandwidth of 200 mÅ FWHM and the spectral stepwidth was 100 mÅ. Our aim is to study the variation of the granulation pattern with height in the atmosphere....

We have digitized a small sample of Ca II K spectroheliograms from the photographic archive of Arcetri Observatory for the period 1950 to 1970. For each digitized plate active regions have been automatically identiied and masked by 2 B. Caccin et al. applying an algorithm based on the geometrical connection between active pixels. Contrast histograms have been derived for the full disk and for`q...
متن کاملSolar atmospheric oscillations and the chromospheric magnetic topology
Aims. We investigate the oscillatory properties of the quiet solar chromosphere in relation to the underlying photosphere, with particular regard to the effects of the magnetic topology. Methods. For the first time we perform a Fourier analysis on a sequence of line-of-sight velocities measured simultaneously in a photospheric (Fe I 709.0 nm) and a chromospheric line (Ca II 854.2 nm). The veloc...
متن کاملA Survey of Chromospheric Activity in the Solar - Type Stars in the Open Cluster
The results presented herein are based on data obtained at the WIYN telescope and at the McMathPierce Solar Telescope, respectively. The WIYN Observatory is a joint facility of the University of WisconsinMadison, Indiana University, Yale University, and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory. The McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope Facility is operated by the National Solar Observatory for the Na...
متن کاملFine structure of the chromospheric activity in Solar - type stars – The H α line ⋆
A calibration of Hα as both a chromospheric diagnostic and an age indicator is presented, complementing the works previously done on this subject (Herbig 1985, Pasquini & Pallavicini 1991). The chromospheric diagnostic was built with a statistically significant sample, covering nine years of observations, and including 175 solar neighborhood stars. Regarding the age indicator, the presence of s...
